Fruit Works is a social enterprise helping communities in Leeds and Bradford to plant and maintain fruit trees. Our mission is to empower people to grow their own fruit and build resilient local food systems.

We grow a variety of fruit trees and soft fruit bushes at our two nursery sites in West Leeds to be planted in gardens, community orchards, schools and public parks.

We provide a range of services based around the seasonal cycles of fruit trees. As well as doing this work ourselves, we are committed to sharing our knowledge and providing training to people new to growing fruit.

Fruit trees are an incredibly valuable resource for people and wildlife. They produce free, healthy food for us and provide homes for thousands of species of flora and fauna.

In the face of climate change and biodiversity loss, planting trees has never been more important. On top of this, we are becoming increasingly disconnected from our food production, with fresh produce often imported to the UK from halfway around the world. Planting fruit trees is a step towards creating resilient local food systems and restoring natural ecosystems in our cities.
